FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions section! Here, we've compiled answers to some of the most common queries we receive about our services and gutter maintenance. Whether you're curious about gutter lifespan, or our service process, you'll find the information you need right here. Let's get your questions answered!

  • When should I have my gutters cleaned?

Gutter cleaning is typically recommended twice a year, once in late spring and again in late summer or early fall. However, this can vary based on your home's surroundings. For instance, if you have pine trees near your home, their needles can fill up your gutters quickly, necessitating more frequent inspections, ideally every three months. Regular cleaning helps prevent blockages and potential damage to your property.

  • Why is gutter cleaning necessary?

Gutters serve the crucial role of directing rainwater away from your home, protecting your roof, walls, foundation, and landscape from water damage. When gutters are clogged with debris, it can lead to a leaky roof or water damage to your home's interior or exterior. Regular cleaning ensures that your gutters function properly and contribute to your home's overall wellbeing.

  • How long does gutter replacement take?

The timeline for gutter replacement depends on several factors including the size of your home and the extent of work required. Typically, the process takes about two weeks from start to finish. The installation itself usually takes about one day for an average-sized home. Any necessary repairs are generally completed within a week. We strive to provide efficient and quality service to minimize any inconvenience.

  • What is the lifespan of a gutter system?

The longevity of gutters varies based on several factors including the material they're made from, weather conditions, and maintenance practices. Aluminum gutters have an average lifespan of 20 years. Steel, copper, and zinc gutters can last over 50 years with regular maintenance. It's important to note that regular cleaning and repair can significantly extend the life of your gutters.

  • Do fascia and soffit need replacing for gutter installation?

When we inspect your gutters, we also check for signs of damage or rot in the fascia boards (the wood behind your gutters). Often, fascia boards rot due to overflowing water from uncleaned gutters. Regular cleaning can prevent this damage and save you money in the long run. However, if there's significant damage, replacement may be necessary during gutter installation.

  • What's the purpose of gutters?

Gutters serve an essential function in protecting your home from water damage. They collect rainwater from the roof and direct it away from the foundation of your house. This prevents water from dripping down the sides of your house or pooling near the foundation which can lead to structural damage over time. Gutters also prevent rainwater from falling directly onto walkways, driveways, and entrances.

  • Do I need to be home during gutter cleaning?

Our technicians are trained to perform their work efficiently and effectively without needing anyone at home. We respect your time and aim to provide seamless service whether you're at home or not. If you're not at home during our visit, we'll leave a door hanger notifying you of our service completion.

  • Are leaf screens or covers effective?

Leaf screens or covers can be a great addition to your gutter system. They help keep debris out of the gutters while allowing water to flow freely through the system. Even if some debris sits on top or sticks in the cover, the overall function of the gutter system is not compromised as it would be without any cover at all. We recommend checking and cleaning gutters with leaf screens every two years.

  • What is a seamless gutter?

Seamless gutters are continuous pieces of gutter made in any length without seams which can potentially leak or cause blockages over time. These are produced using a special forming machine mounted inside our trucks that extrudes the gutter material into its final form.
